MLS Area 05
MLS Area 05. Auburndale, Fairdale, Iroquois Park and Shively are all located on the Southside of Louisville, within a 15 minute drive to the Louisville International Airport (SDF).
Auburndale follows along New Cut Rd. and ends at Third Street. It was originally part of a 1,100 acre farm called Hickory Grove in 1879 owned by Isaac H. Fenley. In 1907 Developer W.E. Stone bought the farm and began to subdivide parts of the farm. Eventually being full developed in the 1960’s.
The Iroquois Park area is one of the many Frederick Law Olmsted parks, featuring an open-air amphitheater than seats 2,366 people, a tulip poplar tree that is considered to be the largest of Louisville’s park systems, and the famous overlook where visitors enjoy seeing the Louisville skyline.
Fairdale is just south of the Gene Snyder FWY (I-265) and meets at the intersection of W. Manslick Rd. and Mitchell Hill Rd. It neighbors to Jefferson Memorial Forest as well as Tom Wallace Recreation Area.
Shively, KY. was first known as the St. Helen’s community when the German Immigrants made St. Helen’s catholic church in 1897. When the post office was opened they had to change the name because there was already a community with that name in Lee County, therefore it is known as Shively today.
